Grrl Talk

The idiot doesn't fall far from the tree.

Apparently The Fuzzbucket's particular strain of intellectual deficiency isn't unique to her alone, nor is her fondness to chew on anything that isn't nailed down (and some things that are). In fact, it appears to be genetic. I took her to the vet that I adopted her from and the receptionist has another one from the litter. Said canine, having already eaten a log (yes, the wood kind) decided to chew through an extension cord last night. The dog is alive but her mouth was so badly burned on one side that 80% of the tissue is lost forever with no chance of re-growth. They're keeping her for observation to make sure the electric current didn't do damage to her heart.

We put the Christmas tree in the living room where The Fuzzbucket can't get to it. I'm now considering forgoing decorations in the puppy-friendly part of the house entirely. It's just not worth the potential vet bill.

 Thought for the day.

Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

It must be Santa's impending visit.

So I was outside a while ago changing out the garden flag (from Thanksgiving to a snowman "welcome") and Ollie trots out on the driveway and makes the following proclamation:

"The ice is cold... in the Arctic... with the polar bears."

I can only assume that her wonderfully creative imagination was at work again and the cold concrete driveway was actually ice and our temperate climes had been magically transformed into some frigid northern region and The Fuzzbucket who is, after all, white and fluffy is now a polar bear (she certainly does the damage of something that size).

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had the ability (or desire) to make something magical out of the mundane?

 Grover's first concert

Grover and I went to the Hannah Montana concert Sunday. Yes, by a freak turn of events we got tickets. They were in the very top row of the upper level, but we had a pretty good view. Of course, none of the pictures I took on my camera phone turned out. They all look like I was documenting some sort of atomic weapon detonation. Anyway, Grover seemed overwhelmed by the noise and lights at first but she got over it pretty quickly. It was fun watching her sing and dance along with the music. It was a pretty good concert, although the "performance" aspect was far better than the actual singing. Being the "Best of Both Worlds" Tour, half the act was Hannah Montana and the other half was Miley Cyrus. Miley did the encore song and let's just say it showcased her vocal abilities. She's a cute kid, though, and I can certainly think of worse people for Grover and Ollie to idolize (Paris, Britney, Lindsay...). The Jonas Brothers were the opening act and surprisingly I knew more of their songs than I realized. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I knew the Year 3000 song because Ollie sings the chorus a little differently than it's written - instead of "great great great granddaughter", she says "great great great grand otter". If you're interested, here's the video:
